Rheinische Post Mediengruppe

Going live with the Modular Platform to support long-term digital growth

The Client

Rheinische Post Mediengruppe is one of Germany’s most influential regional publishing groups. With a strong portfolio of print and digital titles, including Rheinische Post, General-Anzeiger Bonn, Saarbrücker Zeitung and Trierischer Volksfreund, the group reaches millions of readers across the Rhineland and beyond. Their flagship title, Rheinische Post, is the most-cited regional newspaper in the country.

The Goal

As part of an ambitious digital transformation strategy, Rheinische Post Mediengruppe set out to modernize their digital publishing setup and unify their ePaper experiences across brands. The goal was to find a future-ready platform that could ensure long-term stability, allow for extensive system integration, and support new user needs across devices and content formats.

To achieve our growth goals, we focus on product development that consistently prioritizes the needs of our users. With Visiolink, we have a partner with whom we can pursue precisely this path

The Process

In close collaboration with RP Digital, the group's central digital unit, Vitec Visiolink was selected as the trusted partner for the transition. The decision was rooted in a shared understanding of technical reliability, scalability, and a structured development roadmap.
From day one, the partnership was built on transparency, open dialogue and a mutual focus on successful implementation, especially important in an integration-heavy environment.
The first step in the migration included the launch of a new ePaper app for General-Anzeiger Bonn. In the weeks that followed, the rollout expanded to Saarbrücker Zeitung and Trierischer Volksfreund, with Rheinische Post joining shortly thereafter.

The Results

As with all complex digital transformations, the rollout is part of an ongoing journey. Through close collaboration and open dialogue, Vitec Visiolink and RP Digital are working side by side to refine solutions and further develop the Rheinische Post brands over time.

„To achieve our growth goals, we focus on product development that consistently prioritizes the needs of our users. With Visiolink, we have a partner with whom we can pursue precisely this path”, says Sven Grest, Product Owner ePaper at RP Digital.

Rheinische Post Mediengruppe now benefits from:

  • A roadmap for ongoing feature development
  • A unified app experience across brands and reader segments

The result is a digital setup built for longevity – one that matches the scale and ambition of one of Germany’s most prominent media groups.
